White and gold Italian ceramic shell lamp, 1970s

Beautiful white enameled ceramic shell lamp in the shape of a mussel, made in Italy in the 70s, signed T.G.M. on the back and topped with its original opaline globe, with a restored part under the base (see photo). This table lamp embodies a decorative style very much in vogue in 70s Italy, where marine shapes, mother-of-pearl finishes and hand-painted gilded details entered the world of bedrooms, living rooms or reading nooks.

Its design evokes a precious, half-open mussel, with textured striations and a glossy gold finish. The opaline globe diffuses a soft, enveloping light, ideal as an accent lamp or decorative nightlight. A poetic decorative piece reminiscent of the glamorous interiors of the 70s and 80s and the Riviera seaside icons of the era.

Please note: the lamp has been restored under the base, invisible once the piece is placed. This does not affect its aesthetics in situ (see photos). Wear and tear and rubbing on the gilding in places, consistent with age.
