Speckled Postmodern Ceramic Tea Set, Portugal, 1985
Free shipping on orders over €200.00
Pink enameled ceramic tea set, comprising a teapot and six cups, Portuguese manufacture, made in 1985, each piece stamped Made in Portugal and numbered.
The geometric lines are immediately identifiable: conical shape and pyramidal lid, tubular horizontal spout, triangular handle. The six cups repeat the same vocabulary with angular handles that cut across the line of the cup: the one that Memphis made iconic and that the interiors of that decade consecrated. The powdered pink background enamel is speckled with black, a characteristic application of ceramic productions in the Memphis Design movement, a period when several European manufacturers aligned themselves with the then dominant postmodern aesthetic codes. The set shows a few micro chips without affecting the beauty of the piece.
