The Pierrot is lying, nonchalant, with crumpled lace collar, and prominent mauve slippers: a theatrical posture, where the character, a tutelary figure of the Commedia dell'Arte and Parisian boulevard pantomime, finds an interpretation characteristic of the 1980s, a period when Italy produced for export these pieces that were both popular and of excellent craftsmanship. The white and mauve palette, the hand-painted face with its arched eyebrows and carmine lips, the languid pose: this collector's item is perfect both as a bathroom composition and as a decorative piece on a shelf or console.
