This slip-cast ceramic drink set is part of the great Sicilian decorative tradition of the 1970s, when the island's workshops translated the symbols of the Mediterranean landscape into ceramics. The prickly pear, a strong identifying motif of Sicily, is interpreted here in a very graphic style, characteristic of Italian slip-cast ceramics of this period.

Made from slip-cast ceramic, this set bears witness to a widely disseminated artisanal know-how in Sicily from the 1960s onwards, particularly in the regions of Caltagirone and Santo Stefano di Camastra. The slip-cast technique allows for an almost organic modeling, highlighted by brilliant and nuanced glazes, punctuated by reliefs evoking the spines of the cactus.
